The foreword to the Complete Annotated Bibliography was written by Roger Steffens
Who is Roger Steffens you might ask? Well the answer to that question is a long one
as well as an interesting one. We suggest you look him up on the Internet and read all about this interesting man. In regards
to this website and the Bob Marley / Reggae community, Roger, is the foremost authority on Bob Marley & The Wailers as
well as the owner of the worlds largest Bob Marley & reggae memorabilia collection. Roger lives with his wife Mary and
his collection in sunny Los Angeles, CA. The bulk of the collection is located in the basement of his house, crow-barred into
six rooms. The collection consists of everything having to do with Marley and reggae including thousands of cassette tapes,
vinyl records, t-shirts, posters, stamps, stickers, buttons, pins, paintings, photos etc. etc. etc.

In
addition to Roger's passion for reggae and Bob, he is also an accomplished actor, voice over actor, lecturer, author, photographer,
radio dj and all around knowledgeable guy. He currently travels the world presenting his 'Life of Bob Marley' presentation.
If he travels anywhere within driving distance to your house we Haile suggest you make the trip to see him.

Roger, along with CC Smith
started the great reggae magazine The Beat. Published out of California it has been a tremendous source of information for
reggae, african and world music lovers around the world. Roger continues to edit the annual Bob Marley tribute issue.
See more about The Beat and plenty of pictures below. As of 2010, The Beat has shut down their publication. It is a sad day
in the reggae world! We give HUGE thanx to CC, Carol and the rest of the staff and writers who provided us fans with
so many years of tremendous information.

a small sample of the ink he has received over the years.
On a personal note, Roger has been a true friend to Jahcoustic. He is a genuine guy who always
has the time to answer any question of any Bob Marley fan. He has given years of his life to spread the message
of Bob and reggae music. He is one of the kindest and most generous people on earth. A modern day nobleman and a true
Marley apostle! Roger is loved by many people around the world and what he gives in return is the love of Bob Marley. He is
a diehard fan first and foremost!

Roger moved the bulk of his collection onto the Queen Mary ocean liner
to set up the World of Reggae Exhibit. The exhibit stayed open for almost a year and garnered the best reviews of any Queen
Mary exhibit. In the process of opening the exhibit a book was produced that showed the cream of the crop from the exhibit.
Below are some items related to the exhibit and book.

For over two decades Roger has been travelling the world presenting his 'The Life of
Bob Marley' lecture. It is the only thing of its kind and extremely informative. He presents the shows at Universities around
the world, concert halls, lecture halls, outdoor stages and everywhere else he can set up his video screens and have the sound-system
he needs. Throughout the show he shares rare video clips, songs, photos, memorabilia and firsthand insight into the life
of Bob Marley.

Housed in the basement of his Hell-A home Roger maintains the worlds largest Bob Marley and
reggae memorabilia collection. This includes thousands of hours of audio and video tapes, vinyl LPs and sinlges, posters,
pictures, paintings, buttons, shirts and everything else related to Bob Marley, reggae, Jamaica, Ethiopia and Rastafari. The
bulk of the collection that made up the Queen Mary exhibit is currently being moved to a new home in Santa Barabara in what
is called the Music Preservation Project. Below are some pictures of Rogers basement, magazine articles and some snapshots
of the new Music Preservation Project.

In 1998 the long awaited and labor of love Complete Wailers set was finally released
by JAD Records. Titled 'The Complete Bob Marley and The Wailers 1967-1972' the set was mainly the work of Roger, Bruno Blum
from France and Leroy Jodie Pierson. The set saw the release of 11 volumes of music as well as a boxset titled 'Rebel.' Sadly
during the shipping of the last 3 volumes JAD inked a 10 year deal with Universal Music and all volumes had to be returned
to France and destroyed. This set the stage for Universal to re-release the songs on their own boxsets. Unfortunately the
liner notes to the new releases in no way compared to the notes Roger and company has penned for the JAD sets. Below are some
pics related to the JAD set. This is an essential set for any Bob Marley lover.
The Beat
Roger along with CC Smith or we could say CC Smith along with Roger started the Reggae Beat magazine. Originally
focused on reggae, the magazine soon morphed into the bi-monthly bible for reggae, african, soca, salsa and world music fans.
Although Roger contributes interesting articles in each issue he gets his hands dirty the most with the annual Bob Marley
issue. Below are some covers of the annual Marley issue as well as a few other Marley related issues.
Below are some random pics and info related to Roger.

Distant Drums
Distant Drums is a fantastic fanzine that unfortunately saw its last publication after
12 informative issues. It was the brainchild and baby of Wolverhampton's own Glen Lockley along with support and encouragement
from Roger and a host of others. Each issue was packed full of Wailers info from discographies, new releases, reviews, lyrics,
interviews and anything else Wailers related. Below are all of the issues besides #7 which was borrowed from the Jahcoustic
library and sadly never returned. A big up to Glen who currently works hand in hand with Junior Marvin documenting his
releases, career and accomplishments.
